The Children’s Shelter

project details

We were asked to rebrand The Children’s Shelter, a San Antonio-based non-profit that provides abuse prevention services through an emergency shelter, foster and adoption services, and family-strengthening programs. While known locally for its emergency shelter, many of the other programs offered were underutilized and unsupported due to lack of community knowledge.

After spending considerable time with the shelter’s leadership team and poring over initial research, we continued to notice the word “innocence” mentioned over and over. There was our clue. It spoke to their key purpose and mission of restoring innocence. As a result, we chose the lamb as their icon—a universal symbol of innocence. And by carefully transforming the negative space into an adult comforting a child, we were able to create the connection we needed to complete the visual message.
